Position Details

General Statement

This position provides classroom instruction and hands on training for customized training clients. The instructor may need to travel to client locations across the state and work within their schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Instructional duties involved in teaching courses/customized training in construction trades and carpentry.
• Developing and teaching classes from basics to advance in both residential and commercial settings including but not limited to: carpentry basics, framing, finishing, roof/floor/wall/stair systems, blueprint reading, rigging, and safety.
• Setting construction site/shop standards for students.
• Working with the client to provide training specific to their needs.
• Represent the College and Lifelong Learning in the community and with industry partners.
• Being able to stay current with state of the art construction technology, processes and equipment.
• Working closely with College administration, Great Falls College MSU faculty and staff, and industry partners on the customized training.
• Maintain equipment as needed.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

• High School diploma plus 15 years working experience OR equivalent combination of education, training, teaching, or related employment experience required;
• Associate’s Degree in a related field plus four years working experience OR equivalent combination of education, training, teaching, or related employment experience required;
• Experience teaching in an educational setting required; experience teaching in a technical or community college preferred;
• Working knowledge of construction practices; experience with construction applications, shop drawings & blueprints is required;
• Ability to apply practical aspects of Construction Technology into the building projects, while preserving a safe environment;
• Ability to develop curriculum and assessment for industry partners using the National Council on Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is required;
• Computer literacy required;
• Experience teaching students of varying abilities and with diverse educational goals required;
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills required; and
• Ability to work positively with teams and individuals with diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and interests required.
