Great Falls College MSU is seeking an individual to join the team as a Computer Technology Faculty member. This position provides classroom and laboratory instruction in courses required for the Associates of Applied Science (AAS) in Computer Information Technology Network Support and Microcomputer Support programs along with Certificate of Applied Science (CAS) in Computer Network Infrastructure, Computer Server Administration, and Computer Assisting, as well as other technical core course as assigned.

Position Details

General Statement

This position provides classroom and laboratory instruction in courses required for the Associates of Applied Science (AAS) in Computer Information Technology Network Support and Microcomputer Support programs along with Certificate of Applied Science (CAS) in Computer Network Infrastructure, Computer Server Administration, and Computer Assisting, as well as other technical core course as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities for this position include:
• Provide instruction in courses required for the Associates of Applied Science (AAS) and Certificate of Applied Science (CAS) programs and other technical core courses;
• Develop syllabi, courses, curriculum, and assessment instruments;
• Prepare course materials; and use appropriate teaching techniques, which may include but are not limited to delivering lectures, leading discussions, and conducting laboratory demonstrations:
• Demonstrate the ability to use various educational technical aids to improve student learning;
• Develop a wide range of real world information technologies learning experiences for students;
• Able to instruct students on the safe and ethical use of information technologies;
• Maintain professional skills and technical expertise through research, continual study, and involvement in professional organizations; and
• Serve on committees for the College and the General Education, Business, Technology & Transfer Division.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

• Associate or Bachelor degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, computer-based information systems, educational technology, or other computer related field; or at least 3 years’ work experience in software development.
• Fluency in programming in Python, Java, JavaScript, and PHP (or related server-side technology)
• Knowledge of data modeling and relational databases
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of software development methodologies , i.e. Waterfall and/or Agile
• Fluency in modern web technologies — HTML5 and CSS3
• Knowledge of operating systems, spreadsheets, word processors, databases, and presentation software;
• Experience teaching students of varying abilities and with diverse educational goals;
• Experience teaching computer technology or other related computer courses;
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; and
• Ability to work positively with teams and individuals with diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and interests.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

• Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems or other related field;
CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA A+, and Microsoft server certifications;
• Ability to teach IP Telephony, Wireless Technologies, Voice and Data Cabling;
• Experience teaching computer technology or other related computer courses in a post-secondary setting;
• Experience in designing curriculum; and
• Experience teaching online.
