This position provides classroom instruction in courses required for the A.S., A.A.S, and A.A. degrees; the MUS General Education Core; and certificate programs. Position Details

General Statement

This position provides classroom instruction in courses required for the A.S., A.A.S, and A.A. degrees; the MUS General Education Core; and certificate programs. Position may include teaching evening and/or online courses.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop syllabi, courses, curriculum, and assessment instruments;
• Prepare course materials and use appropriate teaching techniques, which may include but are not limited to delivering lectures, leading discussions, conducting writing workshops, and meeting students for writing conferences;
• Support writing tutoring in the Academic Success Center;
• Demonstrate the ability to use various educational technical aids to improve student learning;
• Extend knowledge and competencies in the English discipline and the teaching-learning process;
• Serve on committees for the College and the General Education, Business, Technology & Transfer Division.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

• Master’s degree in English/Composition or closely-related field;
• Experience teaching English in higher education;
• Computer literacy required;
• Experience teaching students of varying abilities and with diverse educational goals;
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; and
• Ability to work positively with teams and individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

• Teaching experience at a two-year college;
• Experience with instructional technology;
• Experience teaching developmental writing;
• Experience teaching online courses.
